This project was created to give a voice to those who do not have one, to raise awareness and growth of small/large communities through the language of photography. The word "Barikamà" means "Resistance/Resilience" in the Bambara language and gives its name to a social cooperative run by African youth. The choice of name fully reflects their story. In fact, after arriving in Italy and being exploited in the southern countryside at the hands of farm laborers, they participated in the Rosarno riots in 2010, putting an end to the abuse they suffered. Having arrived in Rome, strengthened by their experience, thanks to a small investment, they founded "Barikamà" with the aim of including disadvantaged people in the social-work environment, thus moving from exploitation to social entrepreneurship.
